Origin Provisions & The Paleo Diet Launch New Beef Collection; Independent Testing Shows Potential Nutrient-Density Benefits
The new Paleo Beef Collection, branded the official beef of The Paleo Diet®, features three cuts of 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, with independent laboratory analysis examining their nutritional composition.
Boulder, CO., October 27, 2026 — Origin Provisions and The Paleo Diet® have teamed up to launch the Paleo Beef Collection, a new line of premium beef branded the official beef of The Paleo Diet®. The collection features three familiar cuts — ground beef, ribeye and tenderloin steak — from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cattle raised without antibiotics or added hormones. Analysis by Edacious Labs, an independent laboratory accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, found higher omega-3 fatty acid content and lower omega-6 to omega-3-to-fatty acid ratios, among other measured nutrients, compared with corresponding reference values for beef in USDA FoodData Central Foundation Foods.
Founded by Chris Kerston and David Rizzo, Origin Provisions draws on its founders’ backgrounds in regenerative agriculture and sustainable sourcing. As part of Origin Provisions’ collaboration with The Paleo Diet®, Edacious Labs analyzed all three cuts in the Paleo Beef Collection, examining fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, heavy metals and other nutritional measures. The independent testing offers consumers a more detailed look at the nutritional composition of these specific products.
As consumers take a closer look at the nutritional value of the foods they buy, interest is growing in what standard nutrition panels may not reveal. Beyond calories, protein and fat, more detailed analysis can measure individual fatty acids and micronutrients, offering a fuller picture of a food’s nutritional composition. Across the beef industry, this emerging focus on nutrient density is prompting producers to investigate how their products compare with established benchmarks.
Key findings from Edacious Labs’ analysis of the three cuts in the Origin Provisions x The Paleo Diet® Paleo Beef Collection include:
Ground beef (90/10): Contained 209 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving, 69% above Edacious Labs’ benchmark and 325% above the USDA ground beef reference value. This level falls within the range measured in wild game in research by Dr. Loren Cordain, founder of The Paleo Diet®.
Tenderloin steak: Contained 183 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving, a level comparable to those Dr. Cordain measured in wild elk and deer, despite tenderloin being the leanest of the three cuts.
Ribeye: Omega-3 fatty acids: 172 mg, 97% above the benchmark and 550% higher than the USDA ribeye reference. Vitamin B6: 356% above benchmark; Vitamin E: 157% above benchmark.
Omega-6 to omega-3 ratio: The ground beef measured 1.66:1, while the ribeye measured 1.44:1. A lower ratio is generally considered more favorable, which places both well ahead of the reference ratios cited in the analysis: 5.19:1 for grain-fed beef and 13:1 for conventional ribeye. Described as “extraordinary” in the analysis, the ribeye’s ratio was also reported to be better than that of wild game.
Heavy metals: All heavy metals included in the analysis were below the limit of quantification in all three cuts.
The founding principles behind the Paleo diet align with today’s growing consumer interest in whole, minimally processed foods and higher-quality ingredients. Dr. Cordain’s research has demonstrated how an animal’s diet and living conditions can influence its nutritional composition, particularly its fatty acid profile, with potential benefits for heart health. The new data from Edacious shows that Origin Provisions’ beef is even more nutrient-dense than the grass-fed beef Cordain tested, with a nutritional profile more closely aligned with wild game.
Raised on a million acres in Australia, Origin Provisions’ cattle are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, never sent to a feedlot, and have ample space to roam freely in conditions that more closely resemble those of their wild counterparts. These production practices may help explain the nutritional findings, as an animal’s diet and living conditions can influence its fatty acid composition. However, the analysis does not establish a definitive causal link between any specific production practice and the measured results.
Each cut in the collection carries The Paleo Diet® Certified True Paleo seal, with three options suited to a range of occasions, from ground beef for burgers and meatballs to ribeye for grilling and tenderloin steak for a special dinner. Priced at $10.99 for ground beef, $16.99 for ribeye, and $19.99 for tenderloin steak, the collection makes 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef accessible at a range of price points.
“We want to help people make informed decisions about the food they eat, grounded in both scientific research and practical experience. This collaboration brings that approach to the beef counter, with independent testing offering a closer look at the nutritional composition of these cuts. It’s an important step toward giving consumers more information about the food they choose for themselves and their families,” said Trevor Connor, M.S., CEO of The Paleo Diet®.
“The Paleo Beef Collection brings together three versatile cuts of 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, combining accessible price points with greater transparency about what’s on the plate. Independent testing is one way we can give customers a deeper understanding of the products they buy. We’re excited to bring this collection to market with The Paleo Diet® and make the findings available to consumers,” said Chris Kerston of Origin Provisions.
The Paleo Beef Collection marks the first major collaboration on Origin Provisions’ newly revamped direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform.
